Uses For Citrus Fruits Around the House

Oranges, lemons, and limes. Not only do they make a beautiful, fragrant centerpiece in a decorative bowl in the middle of the table, they can also be used for many other things around the home. I've compiled a list of other ways you can use citrus fruits to beautify your home.

  • Make a homemade lemon air freshener. Dissolve 1/8 cup baking soda in 2 cups hot water. Add 1/2 cup lemon juice and pour into a spray bottle. You can use RealLemon for this, too.

  • Clean the build-up inside of vases. Drop a couple of orange slices into vase with water and let it soak overnight. By morning, the build-up will be gone.

  • Clean the inside of your microwave. If you have crusty, baked on food inside your microwave, place a bowl of water inside with a couple slices of lemon in it. Heat for 3-5 minutes. When the microwave stops, keep the door closed to let the steam from the water/lemons do it's job. After 15 minutes, open the door and the stuck on food should just wipe right off. The lemon will help to freshen it also.

  • Remove rust stains from clothing. Use a 50/50 mixture of water and lemon juice to treat the stain. Let it sit for at least 30 minutes before washing.

I hope these tips help!
